A Perspective Shift That Helps Me Stay Grounded

This is a coping skill I’ve recently started using whenever I feel anxious, upset, or embarrassed. When those feelings show up, I ask myself:

“If I were at the end of my life, looking back, would this moment even matter?”

Every time I ask that question, the answer is always no. My future self — the version of me who has lived a full life — wouldn’t care about one tiny embarrassing moment. It puts everything into perspective instantly.

When I realize that, I shift my focus to what actually would matter to me in the long run — like my business, my goals, or even writing this blog. Those are the things my future self would be proud I spent my energy on.

Overall, this tool helps you stay grounded in what’s truly important versus what isn’t. And when you stay focused on the bigger picture, you naturally become more productive, calmer, and happier.
